New Nana Plaza Website

We have recently launched a new website at www.nanaplazabangkok.net.

The site offers reviews on every bar in Nana Plaza. What is useful is that visitors can add their won comments and reviews. Unlike a blog the comments don't disappear down the list as more posts are added as the pages are all static.

There is a new website offering a selection of the best Youtube videos from Bangkok.

It concentrates on the night life of Bangkok by zone but also covers other aspects of Bangkok Life also.

The majority of the videos concentrate on the cities vibrant night life and entertainment industry but we have several sections covering other areas of interest.
This website concentrates on the five main entertainment "zones", Patpong, Nana Plaza (NEP), Soi Cowboy, Ratchadapisek and Royal City Avenue (RCA).

The first three are predominantly areas aimed at the tourist and expatriate market while Ratchadapisek and RCA are area predominantly used by local Thais.

I am prompted to write this by an article I have just read on the Thai Butterfly Blog

Sadly, the author doesn't allow comments on that blog so I was unable to add my thoughts there.

Whilst I agree 100% with his point about the negative discrimination against "bar-girls" and also agree that each individual should be judged on their own merits there are two points worth raising:-

He states that the "Thai bar girl" is a product of farang visitors. This is total nonsense - less than 5% of the "bar girls" work in "farang bars". Over 95% of Thai "bar-girls" work in bars that are exclusively for the use of Thai patrons (almost exclusively male). Bangkok is a BIG city. Farang bars are almost exclusively limited to the 3 main entertainment areas of Nana, Cowboy and Patpong. Thai bars on the other hand are everywhere else and there are literally thousands of them.
The point about some farang "looking down" on Bar Girls. Yes to a degree this is true but not half as true as it is about the attitude of Thais towards them. Thais see bar girls as the lowest of the low, with the possible exception of katoeys involved in the sex trade.

A friend of mine has a lovely studio appartment for rent in Pattaya. The appartment has all mod cons and is located in the famous View Talay building, Jomtien Beach.

Jomtien beach, for those who don't know, is about 10 minutes from the bustle of Pattaya city centre. Far enough away from Pattaya to be quiet but still only 10 minutes by baht bus.

In adition it is just a few minutes walk from Jomtien beach itself whcih is a far nicer beach than anything Pattaya itslef has to offer.

All quite on the Bangkok front

Everything seems very quit here after last weeks coup. There are still soldiers in the streets but life doesn't really seem any different now to before.

I took a trip down to Pattaya with a few friends at the weekend. Nothing has changed there much either, still sleazy but fun.
